The Smell of Success

As I walk into Divine Scents, a new shop, spa and wellness centre located in the heart of the Annex, I am intoxicated with the pleasant smell of essential oils. Owner and aroma specialist Nancy Davide informs me that today’s choice is pure lemon extract, whose natural properties help reduce mental fatigue in addition to purifying the air. Davide's aromatherapy-themed shop caters to the growing interest in natural and environmentally friendly products and wellness.

Nancy Davide's Cape Cod inspired venture opened its doors to the public in late November, 2003. "I was somewhat nervous about starting the shop because I have never worked in retail before, but I felt I could provide a community service and meet wonderful people," says Davide. Davide wants her cozy and friendly store to uplift the mental and physical state of her customers.

The pure essential oils, lotions, candles, bath therapies and other aromatic products that line the shelves at Divine Scents can often provide natural healing qualities. "Certain oils put you in certain moods," says Nancy. From common sources like orange and rosemary, to the exotic tea tree and shea butter, Davide offers a wide variety of oils and application methods to improve and maintain good health. The store has informative descriptions of almost every product on the shelves, so you don't have to do your own research to find out that jasmine can help soothe away the tensions of an overworked-mind.

But the oils are just one facet of wellness offerings at Divine Scents. Divine Scents offers a holistic spa that promotes a space for you to escape, relax and be rejuvenated. The Divine spa offers a variety of natural relaxation therapies provided by certified natural health care practitioners and Registered Massage Therapists. Traditional Swedish massages and hot stone massage therapy are also available. In addition, the spa offers affordable aesthetic services including hand and foot care, aromatherapy facials, and waxing.

Divine Scents also offers regular health and empowerment seminars given by experts to enhance one's awareness of well being issues.
